Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at reception@drpeterlucas.com or 0498 628 394 if you cannot find an answer to your question below.

The fees for initial and follow-up appointments are located here. Full payment is required before or at the time of the consultation. With a GP referral, the fee will be partially rebated to you via Medicare.

Before seeing any medical specialist, it is always preferable to talk to your own family doctor, who can discuss your condition with you and advise on whether any specialist care is appropriate. If it is, he or she can help you to choose the specialist best suited to your needs. Your family doctor can help the specialist to care for you better by providing relevant information about your health. Communicating with the specialist will also enable your family doctor to care for you better during and after your specialist treatment.

Rest assured that your family doctor will receive a full and thorough report relating to each and every visit to a specialist at Neuron in a timely fashion.

You do not need a GP referral however, without one, you won't be able to access a Medicare rebate. Please note that private health insurance does not cover appointment fees with a Neurosurgeon.

Please remember to obtain and bring the following to your appointments:

  • Current relevant X-rays and/or scans: If you have had any scans/x-rays prior to the appointment that you are unable to obtain, please contact our support team to assist.
  • Current referral, Medicare or DVA card and Private Health insurance details.
  • A list of all medications that you are currently taking.
  • Details of any other treating therapists (for example, your physiotherapist).

If you are a new patient or a patient returning after 12 months of seeing Dr Lucas, please complete the new patient information form prior to your appointment so that we can update your file accordingly.
